With GDC taking place in San Francisco this week, Remedy was back with more FBC: Firebreak news, giving players a deeper look into what exactly has been going on at the FBC these past few years.
Held earlier this evening, the Future Games Show Spring Showcase provided us with the first gameplay trailer for FBC: Firebreak, but that's not all. As the night drew on, we saw a new collection of extended previews and interviews, as Remedy published a new Community First Look video and PlayStation Blog article. Let's look at each in turn...
FBC: Firebreak is a three-person FPS co-operative game set in the Federal Bureau of Control. It's been years since the appointment of the new Director, Jesse Faden, and this time players are tasked with helping in the FBC's continued fight against The Hiss, which stubbornly continues to infest The Oldest House. FBC: Firebreak is scheduled to release in Summer 2025 for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, as well as Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.Gameplay Trailer. Setting the theme for the night, the Future Games Show Spring Showcase featured the first gameplay trailer revealing adrenaline-packed chaos, terrifying sticky notes, and frantic fights, all packed into the two-minute video.
Community First Look. In a brand new “Community First Look” video, the FBC: Firebreak dev team focused on one of the Jobs from the upcoming adventure, delightfully titled “Paper Chase”. We heard from Game Director, Mike Kayatta as he guides viewers into what has happened since the FBC lockdown, as he talks jobs, threat level, and clearance levels. We also heard from Jalmari Kunnari (Development Coordinator) on the game's beautiful weirdness and healing showers, Anssi Hyytiäinen (Lead Designer) on creating Remedy's first multiplayer game, and Julius Fondem (Community Manager) on free post-launch content. Check it out below...
GamesRadar Exclusive Coverage. On March 11th, Remedy arranged a virtual press event which provided select media with an extended look at the gameplay. The event featured a hands-off demo of the spotlighted Job, Paper Chase, and was paired with a presentation on the game's core pillars from Game Director, Mike Kayatta. PlayStation Blog. With FBC: Firebreak set to launch day one on the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, Julius Fondem (Remedy's Community Manager) explored what players can expect to find in the upcoming game in a new article for the PlayStation Blog (Archived).
In his post, he details how augments can be used to shake things up, explaining, “Altered Augments are Altered Items that the Federal Bureau of Control has contained and harnessed for approved use by the Firebreak Initiative. So basically, the Federal Bureau of Control is in deep trouble and decided to make weapons out of paranatural objects they barely understand and gave them to their brave first responders. Surely, nothing can go wrong.” These objects include a garden gnome, a teapot, and a piggy bank. Sounds dangerous! You can read his article, HERE (Archived).
Kinda Funny Games. In their latest episode of KF Gamescast, hosts Greg Miller and Roger Pokorny sit down with Sam Lake (Creative Director) and Mikael Kasurinen (Creative Director) to talk about progress at Remedy and their next FBC adventure.
