Today, Laced Records reached out to subscribers with a newsletter promoting their newly announced Alan Wake 2 vinyl collection. Originally teased on social media yesterday, the company offers two variations of the soundtrack, each with their own limited edition and standard edition versions.
This newsletter is recreated in full below as an archive of Alan Wake's history, but we highly recommend subscribing directly to receive all the Laced Records vinyl goodness via your inbox.
Remedy Entertainment and Laced Records are bringing the pioneering, unforgettable music of award-winning meta-horror masterpiece Alan Wake 2 to vinyl.
All music has been mastered for wax and will be pressed to heavyweight LPs. Sleeve artwork is by Remedy Entertainment.
The Laced-exclusive Limited Edition 4LP boasts transparent and white splatter discs. Four spined inner sleeves are adorned with Words of Power; these slide into a rigid board slipcase with printed silver laminate wrap. In a nod to the duality of the game’s story, Saga Anderson graces the slipcase cover, while Alan Wake appears on the back.
The Exclusive Edition double LP features a selection of essential tracks on transparent red discs, housed in a deluxe gatefold sleeve. The gatefold image shows an ill-fated deer, half submerged in the shallows of Cauldron Lake.
Remedy and Creative Director Sam Lake are perhaps unmatched in their reverence for, and investment in, music in their games. They pursued four main creative strands for the soundtrack: long-time collaborator Petri Alanko (Alan Wake, Quantum Break, Control) returned as lead composer, providing a biting yet emotive dramatic horror score, as well as fan favourite janitorial ballad “Yötön Yö”, sung by Martti Suosalo (Ahti).
Music artist POE and Sam Lake fused consciousnesses to birth four parts of the spiralling, woozy epic “This Road”; the end-of-chapter tracks for Wake’s journey through the Dark Place.
Poets of the Fall once again inhabited their roles as the Old Gods of Asgard to create prog opuses “Dark Ocean Summoning”, “Anger’s Remorse” and the monumental “Herald of Darkness”, with in-fiction vocals by Matthew Porretta (Alan Wake) and David Harewood (Mr. Door).
Finally, music production house Fried Music together with Nordic Music Partners gathered a small army of exceptional songwriting talent to create the eclectic, evocative, in-universe ‘Chapter Songs
