If you're looking to dive back into Bright Falls again soon, things may sound a little different this time. Remedy has released a new update for PC editions of Alan Wake which removes David Bowie's Space Oddity from the game's credits. The change was made following licensing changes, and sees a new track created by the game's composer, Petri Alanko. Players who play the final section of the game will be able to hear the new haunting vocal track, appropriately called “Strange Moons”.
Ahead of the update, Alanko wrote on Twitter about the ideas driving the latest track, “Written from a point of view of an astronaut who does have quite a few problems. But even _that_ is okay, as it is what it is. It wasn’t completely out of scratch (heh), as a section of the song was originally in a level in OG AW, but that level was cut out long before release.”
The update is specific to a certain version of Alan Wake, the 2012 PC edition. If you own the original Alan Wake adventure (excluding the Remastered edition) on Steam, GOG, or Epic Games, you should have the update available to you now.
If you don't own the 2012 version, and you want to listen to the new track, we recently recorded our ending play through for fellow fans missing out. You can check it out below...
