The Behind the Voice podcast is back with another Alan Wake 2 themed episode. Uploaded over the weekend, host Abhi Jha talks to the brilliant Christina Cole, the actor behind Alice Wake's heartbreaking performance in Alan Wake 2.
Christina joins the long line of Alan Wake 2 actors who have been in the Behind the Voice spotlight. Over the past few months, they have spoken to Ilkka Villi (Alan Wake, Mr Scratch, Thomas Zane), David Harewood (Warlin Door), Matthew Porretta (Alan Wake, Dr Casper Darling, Mr Scratch) as well as Remedy's Creative Director, Sam Lake (Alex Casey)
[Spoilers ahead!] Alan Wake fans would have seen the photographer return in the sequel, in pre-recorded footage. Her breathtaking camera pieces touched many hearts as they paved the way for the reveal of Mr Scratch. For Christina, she would have been stepping into a character already established by Jonna Järvenpää (physical actor) and Brett Madden (voice actor).
Speaking to Ahbi about her role in Alan Wake 2, Christina says that, "I loved working with the whole, sort of, ghostly elements because she's haunted as well, it's not just Alan. She is experiencing Alan coming in and out of her world, particularly with the scripts I worked with, as a sort of menacing ghost-like figure, unlike her partner. So, she goes through this journey of "oh my god, what's happening is it my fault, where are you?" to he's a villain, he's violent, I need to push back, I need a way to fight this character. So she uses her camera and everything to fight back, So she has this brilliant arc that she goes through to achieve what she hopes to achieve. Yeah, it was wonderful."
The two also talk about a huge range of topics from playing Anabella in Final Fantasy XVI, working on Suits and Doctor Who, pursuing a career in acting, and her favourite music genre, along with a lot more.
