This week, Xbox announced the three new games that will be joining the Xbox Game Pass Core catalogue; Control Ultimate Edition, Cities: Skylines, and SnowRunner.
Last year, the company retired their long-serving Xbox Live Gold membership, transforming it into “Xbox Game Pass Core”. The change kept the same price and introduced a new catalogue of games to check out.
If you're getting a sense of déjà vu with this post, there's a reason! There are four tiers of Xbox Game Pass; Core, Console, PC, and Ultimate. Earlier this year, Control rejoined the Ultimate catalogue after a two year absence, The new addition to Core now opens the doors to the FBC to a wider audience.
Xbox Game Pass Core is one of the cheapest options, priced at $9.99 per month. It includes online console multiplayer, a catalogue of approximately thirty titles, and extra discounts on games. The next tier up is an extra dollar per month, featuring the full Game Pass library collection and access to select games on release. If you're looking to check out alternatives, IGN has a comparison of all four membership tiers and price listings as of April 2024.
Interesting, there are two versions of Control available on the Xbox Game Pass Core membership; Control (base game) and Control Ultimate Edition. If you're checking it out for the first time, we recommend going with the Ultimate Edition, which comes with both The Foundation and AWE expansions and offers a more complete experience.
