Forbes Reflects on Saga Anderson & Working Parent Guilt

Yesterday, Forbes contributor G. Kirilloff published an article exploring Saga Anderson's backstory in Alan Wake 2, specifically her family. In the story, Saga is often pulled between two worlds; pursuing her career which she has a strong passion for and being with her young family who she loves. The piece looks at that specific guilt that's shared by many working parents trying to find the right balance.

Kirilloff compliments the narrative team's approach to the dilemma they refer to as "Mom Guilt". In Saga's case, her daughter, Logan, lives with her father when she's away on a case, but the Bright Falls mystery pulls her deeper and twists that fear. During the course of the story, Saga learns that while investigating The Overlap, Logan had slipped and hit her head. During that time, her husband tried to contact her, but was unable to reach her. While her daughter insists she's okay and "it wasn't a big deal", it sparks a very real concern for Saga, who is across the country and hours away.

Sharing the post, Principle Writer, Clay Murphy, commented, "Very much enjoyed this article. The struggle to find time for both family and work is one a few of us on the AW2 narrative team face. It’s personal for us and we wanted to explore that in Saga’s character. I’m so happy to see folks noticing it."
