Back in June, Remedy Sweden held another Flashbacks event, an internal lecture which provides an intimate discussion of a developer's journey. During these events, co-workers learn about moments from the studio's history and about different crafts in game development. While the event seems to be a feature across both studios, it's also a way for the Sweden-based studio to learn more about their Finnish co-workers.
In the past, these events have featured Ilkka Villi (Actor) and Sam Lake (Creative Director) with hosts Johannes Paloheimo (Chief Commercial Officer) and Sanna Kantelinen (Senior Internal Communications Specialist). For the latest discussion, Anssi Hyytiäinen (Lead Technical Designer) was in the spotlight.
The studio expanded on the event via LinkedIn writing, "Another Remedy Flashbacks was held in our Stockholm office recently. Remedy Flashbacks is one way of building our culture and sharing knowledge from longtime Remedians. It’s for us Remedians to huddle up and hear stories of our history and highlights from various corners of the realm of making games.
"This time Sanna Kantelinen and Johannes Paloheimo hosted the event with long-time Remedian and Lead Technical Designer Anssi Hyytiäinen. Anssi gave us a great history lesson through the years of making games. We got a peek into the scripting of enemy behavior in the first Max Payne game, some jokes Anssi put into our games and what it was like to be a gamer before it was cool to be a gamer."
