This week marks twenty-three years since Max Payne was released! The film-noir style title blended a story of betrayal and love with a combat system which would quickly become a staple in the game industry, Bullet Time. Over two decades after the launch, Remedy is now working on a remake of their first two adventures, in partnership with Rockstar, and it's easy to see why, with Max Payne holding a strong and active fanbase.
To celebrate its 23rd year milestone, Burning Fish has recreated the E3 2001 trailer, originally released a month prior to the game's launch and was likely the developer's last big push at getting it in the gamer's awareness before it was released.
Looking back at the trailers now, they gave a great indication of what the game would be, but the video's quality betrays their age. Rerecorded from the game in higher quality with careful mirroring, Burning Fish's incredibly faithful and careful recreation is a nostalgic flash from the past. Alongside the remade trailer is a comparison video, where you can watch the original side-by-side. Bear in mind that all the shots have been specially recorded from the game, including complex combat scenes. It's an impressive feat and definitely something you should check out!
