There are some things that you just can't pass up, even if there's time pressure. Last month, the speedrunning charity event ESA Winter 2024 took place, providing a week full of streamed speedrunning goodness with the primary aim of raising money for Make-A-Wish International.
The event was a huge success, collecting over $85,000 for the charity. The team of volunteers dived into games, including Super Mario RPG, Ghostrunner 2, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and Alan Wake 2.
After completing most of the "We Sing" chapter, speedrunner TaintedTali found herself needing to get up and stretch her legs, coinciding with the moment Alan "brings the song to its end." The result is an unexpected flash mob with the team, complete with lights and confetti.
I'm so proud to have showcased #AlanWake2 at a major speedrun event, and of course we had to really make something special for this moment 🎉@SamLakeRMD @TimePirateNinja @RiotRMD #ESAWinter24 pic.twitter.com/N6XP4P2kc6

Tweeting about the moment following the event, TaintedTali wrote, "I don't even know where to begin thanking people for making this happen, so let me just say thank you to ALL OF YOU! I had such a blast showcasing Alan Wake 2 for #ESAWinter24"
As for whether the scene was skippable, it was, but that didn't bother them, "Yes, this absolutely lost us time, but it was worth it to showcase the game."
Congratulations to TaintedTali and the team on the incredible money raised for such a brilliant charity!
