On January 26th, the Arab Game Awards (AGA) celebrated the unique world of video games with an evening of speeches, awards, and trailers, watched by six million viewers.
It was a fantastic night for Remedy with Alan Wake 2 accumulating an impressive eight awards, winning Best Game, Best Story, Achievement in Directing, Outstanding Performance (Ilkka Villi & Matthew Porretta), Best Visual Design, Best Technical Achievement, Best Game Design, and Best Horror Game.
The game received a further four nominations; Fan Favourite (won by Resident Evil 4), Best Sound (Hi-Fi Rush), Best Animation (Hi-Fi Rush), and Best Adventure Game (The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom)
Arab Game Awards (AGA) is the biggest ceremony celebrating video games and their players in the Middle East and North Africa. The jury contains twenty-six local media outlets who voted on the winning adventures. The digital ceremony was broadcast on YouTube to six million players. Kyle Rowley: Hello, everyone at the Arab Game Awards! My name is Kyle Rowley. I'm the Game Director on Alan Wake 2, harking here at Remedy Entertainment. I'd like to thank you on behalf of everyone at the studio for selecting us as the winner for hte Achievement in Directing. Now, this is the first time I'd ever actually been a Game Director on a project like this, so I wouldn't have been able to do it without the help and support from my fellow Game Director, someone you may know or heard of, Sam Lake. And obviously, the rest of the amazing team we have here at Remedy. Being bold, ambitious and taking creative risks is not easy in this industry. It comes with a lot of stress, pressure and uncertainty, but the amazing developers that we have here, that we get to work with every single day, took those creative ideas and turned them into something amazing when developing Alan Wake 2. Matthew Porretta (Voice Actor): Hello Arab Game Awards and thank you for recognising Ilkka and my work as Alan Wake, it's been an incredible experience. Ilkka and I have been sharing this character for fourteen years and I couldn't ask for a better collaborator. So, as actors we are only as good as the writing that we're given, so I want to acknowledge the writers and say thank you to Sam Lake, Clay Murphy, Tyler Burton-Smith, for giving us such cool stuff to say and do.
