We're now deep into award session. Today, the finalists for the Game Developers Choice Awards 2024 were revealed two months ahead of the GDC expo and accompanying ceremony in San Francisco, California.
2023 brought exceptionally tough competition, with the release of Baldur's Gate 3, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 providing a strong line-up.
For Remedy, Alan Wake 2 was selected as a finalist across three categories and received an honourable mention in a fourth.
For the GDC Awards 2024, Remedy's latest adventure was listed as a finalist in "Best Narrative", "Best Technology", and "Best Visual Art", with an honourable mention for "Game of the Year".
For Best Narrative, Alan Wake 2 is up against Baldur's Gate 3, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, The Legend of Zelda, Tears of the Kingdom, and Venba. Honourable mentions include Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Dredge, Goodbye Volcano High, Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, and Starfield.
In Best Technology, it's a familiar line-up with Alan Wake 2, Baldur's Gate 3, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Starfield, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Honourable mentions include COCOON, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Diablo IV, Final Fantasy XVI, and Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores.
Finally, for Best Visual Art, the finalists include Alan Wake 2, COCOON, Final Fantasy XVI, Hi-Fi Rush, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Honourable mentions include Diablo IV, Dredge, Lies of P, Sea of Stars, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
Game of the Year was tough, with Baldur's Gate 3, COCOON, Dave the Diver, Dredge, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom making the list of finalists. Alan Wake 2 was listed as an honourable mention, alongside Sea of Stars, Diablo IV, Starfield, Final Fantasy XVI and Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
