If you're unfamiliar with the band, let's take you through a quick recap: Poets of the Fall has had a long history with Remedy, which started in 2003 with Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. For the game, they created their first song, Late Goodbye, based on a poem by Sam Lake. The next time they collaborated, Poets of the Fall had gained the knowledge and experience of several albums. The band returned for Alan Wake, with The Poet and the Muse and Children of the Elder God (two custom songs), in addition to War. Two years later, for Alan Wake's American Nightmare, then considered a spin-off from the original game, the band returned for Balance Slays the Demon (custom) and The Happy Song (semi-custom as it later appeared in the album Temple of Thought). After a slight unintentional break with Quantum Break, another two of their songs featured in Control: Take Control and My Dark Disquiet.
It's in Alan Wake 2 that the Old Gods of Asgard found greater success, with the largest collaboration to date. For the game, the band created three custom songs, Dark Ocean Summoning, Anger's Remorse and Herald of Darkness, as well as had their original song (as Poets of the Fall), Heroes and Villians, featured in the credits. All three founding members of POTF were also heavily included in the memorable chapter, We Sing.
