November will be bringing a change of core management at Remedy. Last month, it was announced that Chief People Officer, Mikaela Öberg, will be departing the studio on November 2nd to take up the role of Senior Vice President of People and Development at Varma.
The move will be a departure from the games industry. Instead, Varma provides pension insurance for work carried out in Finland.
In a statement posted on the Varma website, Mikaela said, “I’m thrilled to take on the very important role of working with people and development in a company of Varma’s standing. I am also looking forward to developing these areas together with my outstanding colleagues. I believe that my own experience and competence will further strengthen Varma’s track record."
Following her announcement, Tero Virtala (CEO at Remedy) stated, “I want to warmly thank Mikaela for her valuable contribution to the company, and I wish her all the best in her future ventures." She had joined the studio in August 2016, following the release of Quantum Break, where she would have held the position for seven years and four months.
Remedy has started the process to find Öberg’s successor.
We wish Mikaela all the best in her new position!
