Today marks twenty years since Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne launched!
For today, we wanted to revisit some of our favourite Max Payne 2-themed posts and give a shoutout to an incredible article that you should check out.
Max Payne 2 Retrospective. After the success of Max Payne in 2001, Remedy turned their attention to developing a sequel, but their story is not quite that simple. The studio knew that the current project would be their last Max Payne title, with Take-Two announcing in May 2002 that the publisher had purchased the Max Payne IP from Remedy and Apogee. With the new project, the higher budget and improvements in tech allowed the Finnish studio to become bigger and more ambitious than before. (Read our full article, HERE!)
Interview with Fred Berman. In December 2012, we spoke to Fred Berman, the voice actor for Barry Wheeler (Alan Wake) and Vinne Gognitti (Max Payne 2), about his experiences in the recording booth and the challenges of delivering a performance through voice only. (Read his interview, HERE)
Max Payne References in Alan Wake. Jumping into Remedy's earlier games after being introduced to the developer through Alan Wake was a pretty unusual experience. In this article, we look at the references that were brought to Alan Wake and paving the way for the Remedy Connected Universe. (Check out our list HERE!)
Interview with Kathy Tong. Kathy Tong is the incredible physical actor for Mona Sax in Max Payne 2. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the game (it feels just like yesterday), we spoke to her about getting into character, her interests and a typical day at the office. (Read her interview, HERE) Also, we got a chance to catch up later to talk about her debut novel!
The story behind Late Goodbye, the song that defined Max Payne 2. Last year, Andy Kelly spoke to Sam Lake (Creative Director at Remedy) and Poets of the Fall on the creation of Late Goodbye. The song marked the formation of the band and the first formal collaboration between the two parties. It's an incredible interview and piece, and highly recommended to all Max Payne fans.
