Today, EDGE has revealed the cover for their new October 2023 Edition (#388), available in stores across the UK now.
The magazine teases an in-depth sixteen-page feature on Alan Wake 2, with the writer front and centre of the issue. There are two versions of the cover, although with minimal changes; the in-store version features teasers for the articles inside, and the subscriber version with a cleaner look.
Update (11/08/2023 at 16:53 BST): In the feature, we get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of what it's like to be on set during one of the game's live-action recordings. In the spotlighted scene, set late in the game, Alan Wake steps onto a chat show, In Between With Mr Door, to talk about his latest works created in the Dark Place. Mr Door, a name that Control fans may be familiar with, is played by David Harwood, known for his roles in Supergirl, Homeland, and Doctor Who. Alongside attending a recording, EDGE also sat down with Sam Lake (Creative Director and Lead Writer), Kyle Rowley (Game Director), Ilkka Villi (live-action actor, Alan Wake), and Matthew Porretta (voice actor, Alan Wake) to learn more about what's in store for both protagonists.
On the cover reveal, Thomas Puha (Communications Director at Remedy) tweeted, "You wanted Alan? It was a pleasure to work on this 16-page feature as it was done over a span of several months as different things were happening with the game and its production. There is more at Gamescom, oh yes... "
In addition to Alan Wake 2, the issue also takes an early look at Lords Of The Fallen, Forever Skies, and Bounty Star. Reviews, Exoprimal, Pikmin 4, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew, and Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical. And focuses on the history of silent protagonists from Gordon Freeman to Master Chief.
