After months of speculation, Remedy and 505 Games have officially confirmed that Heron (the codename for an internal AAA project set in the world of Control) is the sequel to the 2019 adventure.
In the press release, the studios also confirmed Control 2's development budget to set at EUR 50 million, with the game due to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, although an estimated release date was not yet given. Read the full press release, HERE.
On the Remedy website, Mikael Kasurinen (Game Director of the Control Franchise) wrote a teaser for what's to come stating that with the first game, "we leaped into the unknown. We wanted to create something new. Something different and unexpected. A world like no other. Thank you, the audience, for making Control such a success for us With Control 2, we’ll take another leap into the unknown. It’ll be an unexpected journey. It’ll take a while, but to put it mildly, this is the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on. It’s still early days, but it will be worth the wait."
Both the press release and letter were accompanied by the first official piece of concept artwork. In the art, we see a Control Point outside the FBC, with three banaged tethered bodies.
