This week, Remedy Sweden opened their doors for the first time! The occasion was celebrated with breakfast food from both countries, and a livestream between the two studios.
While the Stockholm-based team will be relocating into their permanent offices in Spring 2023, they won't have too far to travel, as they move to another place within their Södermalm-based building.
The trial for a second studio went ahead in 2020, led by the General Manager of the Vanguard project, Johannes Mang. After a year in the works, the announcement post on the Remedy website, Mang stated that “the shift to location-agnostic work in the wake of COVID made us realize that Remedy is a state of mind, rather than a place in Finland”.
The Sweden-based studio is looking to hire up to 25 developers by the end of 2022, while offices have been reopened, the studio will be embracing a hybrid working style. On the topic, James Salt (Game Director at Remedy Sweden) stated “We understand that everyone is different, and has different needs, on different days. Some days are best spent focused, headphones on, working on something cool, whereas other days, such as when teams are working on planning, perhaps would benefit from in-person facetime. The hybrid model is about letting people choose the method that works best for them, on any given day”
