Assembly 2022 Remedy Wrap-Up
[Limited Edition T-Shirts & Industry Talks]

Assembly continues throughout the weekend with more lectures, esports, cosplay, and competitions, but with Friday marking Remedy's main day at the event, it's the perfect time for a quick look back...

Celebrating 30 Years. For the show, the developers created a t-shirt to mark Assembly's 30th year. The t-shirts are a relaxed sunflower yellow crewneck t-shirt with both logos featured in red neatly on the front with "ASSEMBLY 30 YEARS" underneath. On the back reads the quote "KILL ALL AUDIO AND LIGHTS!!!!!!" a familiar phrase for longtime visitors. Alongside them, Remedy also brought a selection of merchandise (including Alan Wake and Death Rally shirts) at a reduced price.

Talks. Across Friday afternoon, there were also two talks held by Remedy developers; Procedural and VFX Workflows in Control by Johannes Richter (Head of VFX) and Are You Wondering How To Get Into The Game Industry? by Mira Günther (Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist). Lecture attendees were also gifted lilac and yellow macaroons branded with the studio's logo. The talks were recorded and later uploaded on the Assembly YouTube Channel...

Procedural and VFX Workflows in Control 
Johannes Richter (Head of VFX)

Official Description: This talk sheds light on how we developed visuals and functionality of Create and Fracture – the two new abilities central to exploring the caves under the Oldest House in the Control: The Foundation DLC. Control has been developed by Remedy Entertainment. Control received many Game of the Year wins including being chosen as the 2019 Game of the Year award by IGN as well as receiving honours for Best Art Direction at The Game Awards 2019 and the award for Action Game of the Year at the DICE Awards.

Johannes Richter has had a varied and illustrious career in the VFX industry with over 15 years of experience in VFX. As a former FX Artist and Supervisor at Framestore, Johannes boasts an array of VFX-heavy Hollywood productions, including Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Gravity, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Poltergeist, Everest, Dracula Untold and Robocop. A few years back Johannes switched to games to work for Remedy, where he is now heading Remedy's growing VFX & TechArt team."


Are You Wondering How To Get Into The Game Industry?
Mira Günther (Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist)

Official Description: Remedy Entertainment will deliver a talk that will include an overview of Remedy, how to prepare for exploring jobs in the gaming industry, advice on portfolios and applications as well as time for your questions at the end. Remedy will discuss ways to find opportunities through networking, game dev events, and internships.

Her responsibilities included ensuring that our recruitment processes go smoothly both for us and the candidates.
