Earlier this month, Smilegate released a new trailer looking at their multiplayer campaign in CrossfireX. The video spans a minute long and showcases the combat style, weapons, locations, and objectives that players can expect to find in the upcoming adventure.
CrossfireX is a collaboration between Smilegate and Remedy, with Smilegate developing the multiplayer section of the game and Remedy developing its single-player. The title is set to launch exclusively on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on February 10th.
CrossfireX is a free-to-play title coming exclusively to Xbox. The game includes an online multiplayer allowing teams of 2-16 players to join in on the action. It also features a single-player story mode developed by Remedy. The single-player experience will be available to purchase, with more details about the format and cost to come later. At the moment, there are conflicting stories regarding multiplayer access requiring Gold Membership across the Xbox and CrossfireX websites, but hopefully, we should get concrete news soon.
According to the developers, CrossFireX's single-player campaign sees a "sprawling global conflict between Global Risk and Black List" two private military groups. "Global Risk’s agents use advanced technology to fight for order and security, while Black List’s mercenaries fight to destabilize regimes in the name of freedom". Like a lot of Remedy's previous work, it isn't a straightforward battle between good versus evil but a battle between two morally-grey factions.
With its launch date fast approaching, momentum has been building on the marketing side. Last month, Remedy and Smilegate invited IGN, Easy Allies, and COGconnected to check out CrossfireX's single-player experience. You can read their impressions, HERE!
