Alongside the reveal of Alan Wake 2, we had our next glimpse of CrossfireX, including a release date! Mark your calendars for February 10th 2022 when the game will launch on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S! Just two months to go!
CrossfireX is a free-to-play title coming exclusively to Xbox. The game includes an online multiplayer (requiring Xbox Live Gold membership) allowing teams of 2-16 players to join in on the action. It also features a single-player story mode developed by Remedy. As we now have a release date, expect a lot more answers about the format coming soon, including whether the free-to-play approach extends to the single-player campaign or if it's considered a separate payable entity.
In the meantime, you can check out the brand new trailer for CrossfireX, which recently debuted at The Games Awards...
Official Synopsis: CrossfireX delivers an intense first-person shooter experience where players are immersed in a sprawling global conflict between the world’s two most formidable private military factions: Global Risk employs veterans of powerful armed forces who use advanced technologies to fight for order and security; Black List employs hardened mercenaries trained in guerilla tactics who fight to destabilize oppressive regimes in the name of freedom. Choose your side and complete objective-based missions across a variety of classic and innovative modes featuring tightly crafted gameplay and cinematic visuals
In their article, Jaren writes, "We wanted to share another glimpse at the single-player campaign with a new trailer at The Game Awards 2021. CrossfireX’s single-player component is developed by the master storytellers over at Remedy Entertainment. Working with Remedy has allowed CrossfireX to really dive into the narrative possibilities that has existed in this franchise, and we thank them for being able to bring those possibilities to life. We cannot wait for you to try Operation Catalyst and Operation Spectre when both campaigns launch alongside the CFX multiplayer in February 2022."
