If you're curious about what it's like to write for video games or looking to break into the industry as part of a narrative team, you might want to keep an eye on a certain project! A little while ago, Anna Megill (Narrative Lead on Control, now Lead Writer at Playground Games) announced that she had found a publisher and was starting work on two new books, The Pocket Mentor for Video Game Writers and The Game Writing Guide: Get Your Dream Job and Keep It.
The Pocket Mentor is described as a "lean, punchy guide" designed for providing direct and quick advice while on the go. The Game Writing Guide is an expansion of the pocket guide, featuring interviews with key industry voices, steps for creating eye-catching portfolios, cover letters, and more. The books are inspired by the feedback she received on her website's FAQ.
At the moment, the project is still within its early stage, with a publication date not set.
