If you own a Google Stadia subscription, then good news! Control Ultimate Edition is due to launch on the service in the coming weeks. As the collection, currently scheduled for Summer 2021, contains the full experience; players will be able to explore the base game from start to finish, and then jump on board both DLC packs, try out the photomode, or challenge themselves with Expeditions.
The initial announcement was posted in late May on the Google Stadia blog, alongside launch news of the imminent arrival of Sega's Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 - The Official Video Game. At the moment, that's about as much as we know about the game's arrival on the platform. And, as the service has two tiers of subscription, "Stadia Base" and "Stadia Pro", we don't know for certain in what form the game will be available to gamers. We'll let you know when we have further news or a clearer release date!
So, what exactly is Google Stadia? It's a brand new subscription service, similar to Netlix but for games, which gives players access to an extensive library in return for a monthly price. With a potential 60fps frame rate, 4K resolution, HDR support, and 5.1 surround sound, depending on your network speed, the Google Stadia is an interesting glimpse into the future of streaming previously paved by consoles such as Onlive. Last September, Google Stadia's closest rival, Amazon Luna, kickstarted their promotional campaign following the service's reveal, with Control very much in the spotlight.
