In their October Mini Direct, Nintendo announced that, not only would Control be launching on the Nintendo Switch, but that the Control Ultimate Edition - Cloud Version was available to play right away!
For the port, Remedy partnered up with Ubitus, a Taiwanese-based company with studios situated in Japan, Korea, and China. The company was founded in 2007, and specialises in cloud support across the tech industry.
In their press release, published for the launch of the Control Ultimate Edition - Cloud Version, Wesley Kuo (CEO at Ubitus) stated, "we are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to work with a world-class game publisher such as 505 Games. We are thrilled to present their most recent mega title, Control Ultimate Edition - Cloud Version, to a global audience on Nintendo Switch™, featuring the highest gameplay quality and performance, including ray-tracing. We will continue our efforts to bring more and more exciting major titles to the cloud and share with gamers around the world.”
Control Ultimate Edition - Cloud Version also marks the first title that Ubitus has brought to simultaneous markets via the Nintendo eShop, with the game launching in "North America, Asia (Japan, Korea, and Hong Kong for now) and parts of Europe."
Now, to get into some of the nitty-gritty aspects of the launch. To be able to play Control Ultimate Edition - Cloud Version, your Nintendo Switch needs to have access to the internet and have a connection strong enough to support the game. Fortunately, the testing part is pretty easy; in order to purchase the game, players will be prompted to use a launcher application that will test their connection and see if it's stable enough to run the game.
After the internet test, you will then need the Access Pass for the Control Ultimate Edition - Cloud Version, which costs $39.99/£34.99. After that, you're good to go!
