This week was a major one in gaming, with the release of Sony's PlayStation 5 and Microsoft's Xbox Series S and X! There's a lot of excitement, and with highly-anticipated launch games such as Spider-Man: Miles Morales (Insomniac Games) and Assassin's Creed Valhalla (Ubisoft Montreal), the bar is so high for quality. Which is why, earlier this week, Remedy announced that they are delaying the release of Control Ultimate Edition on next-generation consoles for a few more weeks, to give the dev team some extra time.
The news came in the form of a tweet from the studio, stating "an update from the development team: Control Ultimate Edition will arrive on next generation platforms early 2021. We want the final quality of the game to be awesome, and so we need a bit more time to work on it. Thank you for your understanding and patience!"
The Control Ultimate Edition was announced back in August with two fixed dates. The first was August 27th, which would see the game come to Steam. Two weeks later, on September 10th, Control Ultimate Edition was published on the Epic Games Store, GOG, the PlayStation Store (for PS4) and the Microsoft Store (for Xbox One).

The arrival of the game on next-generation consoles was something that was also on the books, with the release window given of "end of 2020 - PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X (digital)". The blog post has since been edited, following the news of the delay.
At the moment, there have been no changes to the launch of the physical version of the Control Ultimate Edition for Xbox One or PS4, which is still scheduled to launch before the end of the year.
