Last week, the shortlist for this year's Nordic Game Awards were announced, which saw both Control and Sayonara Wildhearts claiming the most nominations, with five each across the nine categories.
The list of nominations was announced on April 15th, with a digital ceremony set to be live-streamed from Malmö, Sweden on Thursday, 28 May. The broadcast will be closing out the second day of the (now digital) NG20 event. We'll let you know once we have links to the ceremony!
As for Control's five nominations, they include: Nordic Game of the Year alongside Baba is You (Hempuli Oy), LEGO Builder's Journey (Light Bright Studios), Mosaic (Krillbite Studio), and Sayonara Wildhearts (Simogo). Best Art alongside Draugen (Red Thread Games), LEGO Builder's Journey (Light Brick Studios), Little Misfortune (Killmonday Games), and Sayonara Wildhearts (Simogo). Best Game Design alongside Baba Is You (Hempuli Oy), Degrees of Separation (Moondrop), Sayonara Wildhearts (Simogo), and What the Golf?! (Triband). Best Technology alongside Deep Rock Galactic (Ghost Ship Games), Minecraft Earth (Mojang), Tom Clancy's The Division 2 (Ubisoft Massive), and Trailmakers (Flashbulb). Best Audio alongside Moons of Madness (Rock Pocket Games), Mutazione (Die Gute Fabrik), Rain of Reflections: Chapter I (Lionbite), and Sayonara Wildhearts (Simogo).
Along with Control's nominations, we're also excited to see Ctrl Alt Ninja Ltd's Druidstone: The Secret of the Menhir Forest, from the developers of Legend of Grimrock, which I am personally excited for and incredibly biased about. The team and the game were nominated in the Best Debut category. The team also features some familiar name from previous Remedy titles!
