Yesterday we spoke about the 18th Annual VES Awards Gala, today going to be talking about the 9th Annual New York Video Game Awards which held their ceremony back on January 22nd, and which saw Courtney Hope take home an award for her performance as Jesse Faden in Control.
Being based in New York City, all of the award names were inspired by local landmarks including the "Great White Way Award for Best Acting in a Game", in which Courtney Hope got her win.
Competition within the category was tough with fellow actors Debra Wilson (Cere in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order), Tommie Earl Jenkins (Die-Hardman in Death Stranding), Alexandra Shipp (Ava in Telling Lies), Logan Marshall Green (David in Telling Lies), Margaret Qualley (Mama in Death Stranding), Norman Reedus (Sam in Death Stranding), and Faye Kingslee (Nico in Devil May Cry 5) nominated for the award.
While Hope couldn't be at the event in person, she did record an acceptance speech that was played on the screen during the ceremony. You can watch the announcement and read the transcript below:
Courtney Hope's New York Game Awards 2020 Acceptance Speech:
Hi, Everyone! I am so bummed that I'm not there, but I would love to thank the New York Game Critics for the incredible honor. This is so cool. I'd love to thank God. I want to thank Sam Lake for trusting me with his incredible, insane vision, and for trusting me to be your Jesse. I want to thank 505Games and the entire Control Remedy team for all of your hard work and dedication, and for allowing me to walk on this journey with you. I want to thank my friends, my family, and my boyfriend, for your boundless support, always. The fans, for your support, and for continuing to play this game and to fight for the truth. So in honor of Jesse, I would love to say, "stay weird, stay curious, and always stay in pursuit of the truth." Thank you.
