Ameila Rose Blaire-Dechart's New Film, Desert Prayer, Premiering 52nd WorldFest Houston International Film Festival

A year and a half ago, we wrote about Amelia Rose Blaire-Dechart's brand new film, Desert Prayer, which was being crowdfunded on IndieGoGo. By the end of the campaign, the project raised $17,930, achieving 114% of their goal. This past week, we're excited to learn that Desert Prayer was selected as a Remi Award Winner at the 52nd WorldFest Houston International Film Festival, where they will be celebrating their world premiere.

For those able to attend, Desert Prayer will be showing on Sunday 7th April 2019 at 1pm in the "Dramatic Intl Shorts #3" category. Amelia's film will be shown alongside A Day In The Life of Who, Anna, Del Rio, Evelyn X Evelyn, and For Display Only. Tickets cost $7.50 and are available to purchase from the event website.

Remedy fans are most likely to know Amelia Rose Blaire-Dechart's work from Quantum Break where she played university student and protester, Amy Ferrero. She has also starred in a number of shows including Scream: The TV Series, Criminal Minds, Blue Bloods, True Blood, The Mentalist and Detriot: Become Human. Recently she has also started a Twitch channel with her husband, and fellow actor, Bryan Dechart.

Official Write-Up: How far would you go to save someone you love from giving up on their dream?

This question was what inspired Desert Prayer to grow. It was born from a fierce desire to get someone I love to recognize their own self-worth, and finally free themselves from an oppressive relationship.

Developing this story has been a materialization of the lesson I'm currently learning. You can't change someone else. You can't transform how they see things or how they react. The only thing you can change is yourself. To do that, you must dig to find the root of your upset, the thorn that's pricking you, and find the strength to pull it out.

Influenced by the book Women Who Run With The Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Ph.D., Desert Prayer was inspirited by the tale of La Loba, The Bone Woman. Hers is a story of transformation, of searching for spiritual truth in the metaphorical desert and arriving into a new landscape, free from mental bondage. The Wild Woman archetype of La Loba represents the instinctual nature in a woman that feeds her creativity and her soul.
