Inside the car is the main character, JAKE FISHER who is alone talking to HAL who is presumed to be his agent and friend.
HAL (Over the phone)
So Riligh is a surprising at seeing you tomorrow?
JAKE
There won't be anyone left.
HAL (Over the phone)
You're a dying breed.
You're a dying breed.
Short pause in response as the camera switches to the road to see that the view, despite the headlights, is limited. The scene only lasts a couple of seconds before the scene inside the car continues.
HAL (Over the phone)
Jake, lighten up! We need the interview. You know Reiliegh loves the book.
JAKE
Yeah, I bet.
HAL (Over the phone)
Oh and make sure to get him a signed copy.
JAKE
Are we done?
HAL (Over the phone)
Libby called again.
JAKE
Hey, hang on a sec.
(Car pulls over and stops)
HAL (Over the phone)
I'm running out of excuses

JAKE takes a pill and swollows it down with water.
HAL (Over the phone)
...Hello? You there?
JAKE
I'm sorry you had to deal with that.
HAL (Over the phone)
...Have you been home?
JAKE
Come on Hal.
JAKE looks at the bottle containing the pills he had just taken, it's empty.
HAL (Over the phone)
She...um...Didn't know you were going to Bright Falls.
JAKE
Well I guess she does now.
JAKE drives away again. It's darker now, almost complete darkness.
