- SCENE ONE - THE WOODS -
JAKE emerges from the woods, he is barefoot as he walks across broken glass. He seems unfazed as he does so. He notices his car at the side of the road, the boot open. Inside he finds some Wellingtons, he puts them on.
- SCENE TWO - THE DRIVE -
JAKE rides back to Bright Falls, his clothes are more dirty than before. He receives a phone call from HAL.
HAL
Hey, how are you doing?
JAKE
Fine, just fine.
HAL
Your message got cut. Is everything OK?
JAKE
Yeah, you bet.
HAL
Did you get the book signed for Riley?
JAKE looks over to "The Creator's Dilemma" book sitting in the passenger seat.
- SCENE THREE - HARTMAN'S OFFICE -
HARTMAN is signing the book. JAKE sits opposite him watching him as he writes. HARTMAN finishes and slides the book across the desk to JAKE. HARTMAN is about to get up but JAKE stops him.
JAKE
Can I talk to you a second, off the record?
HARTMAN
Of course.
HARTMAN sits back down.
JAKE
Since I got here, I uh I've been blacking out and waking up in strange places
HARTMAN
What kind of places?
JAKE
Woods...The Lake...uh, I'm really weird when I leave here. It's got to stop.
HARTMAN
Anything else?
JAKE
Yeah, I think I killed...A deer. With my car
HARTMAN
It happens
HARTMAN gets up and walks toward JAKE
HARTMAN
May I?
HARTMAN walks over to JAKE and feels his pulse, he looks at his clock for guidence.
HARTMAN
You know I help people with problems, just like yours.
HARTMAN shines a torch in JAKE's eyes.
HARTMAN
Stay with us.
JAKE is injured by the light and jumps back.
JAKE
ARGH! What the hell is that thing?
HARTMAN
Just a light.
HARTMAN shines it again.
JAKE runs down the corridor.
- SCENE FOUR - MOTEL
JAKE runs to the motel room. He looks through his bag for the duct tape. With a camera set up, he ties himself to the fridge.
The following morning, he wakes up with the camera on low battery.
JAKE plays the tape on the TV, he watches as he destroys everything in the motel. His gaze is fixated on the TV.
